The Credit Institute of Canada is proud to announce the appointment of Peter Smith, CPA, CA, CCP, as our new Chairman, President & Dean, succeeding David H. Hopkyns, ACI, who has completed his distinguished term.
Peter Smith is a highly respected leader in the credit and financial community, with over 30 years of experience in financial management, education, and organizational leadership. He holds both the CPA, CA and CCP designations, reflecting his deep expertise and commitment to professional excellence. Peter is also a recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Service Award from CPA Manitoba, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the profession.
Throughout his career, Peter has demonstrated a passion for advancing professional standards and mentoring the next generation of credit professionals. He is well known for his leadership in both the private and public sectors, as well as for his active involvement in industry associations, academic programs, and community initiatives.

Peter’s academic background includes both a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Accountancy degrees. He has been recognized for his community leadership in both the charitable and political arenas, and in the credit world for his active involvement in national conferences and educational forums.
